I pray that our hearts will be inundated with gratitude for the grace and goodness of God in our midst. The Lord has given us choiced servants to teach and encourage us in the faith for these past two months. We have seen how His Word and holy presence had ministered to us during the recent Church camp and again how He graciously reminded us during our Mission Emphasis Month of the privilege He has given us to serve Him in the evangelistic mission. Praise God that not only did He charge us spiritually, but also had ignited brethren with a renewed zeal to love and serve Him. Let us seriously take this time to uphold and encourage one another to maintain and act upon the spiritual zeal. Judging from past experiences, many brethren found it to be an uphill task. The messages and instructions heard just blew over like a refreshing breeze. We had moments of timely “jump-start” too; likened to a faulty car battery given a new lease of life. But then, too soon, our zeal dampened. However, beloved, it need not be a lost cause. By God’s grace, we can fan the glowing ember, to be all lighted up to love and to serve the Lord with greater fervor. Beloved, the fanning involves our participation and sacrifices. But to be able to do what is necessary, we have to turn to God in prayer for His strength to be made perfect in our weaknesses (2 Cor 12:9a). We need to build strong spiritual foundation upon His Word (2 Tim 3:16,17), to be faithful in working for the cause of His Kingdom, and seize all opportunities to be witnesses for the gospel of Christ (Phil 1:27). The truth is that to be alive in Christ is not just a theoretical confession that we are alive in Him, or an intention that we will live for Him, but that we are glowing and living our lives with Him. Amen. Pastor Dr SC Elbert Lim
